It was a beautiful day in Dundee, and since I was still nursing a two day hangover from Friday's festivities, a Bloody Mary was definitely in order. Not wanting to be stuck inside on a day like this, finding an outdoor patio to imbibe was key, and Emmett's Tavern took care of both of my needs.
After sitting down on the wrought iron furniture, I ordered a Bloody Mary and relaxed in the summertime air. Enjoying the nice view of Fox River to my right, the waiter came back and placed a Bloody Mary in front of me that I was pretty sure that I would enjoy just as much....
Just looking at the cocktail got my mouth watering. You could see a hearty mix of herbs & spices mixed throughout this tasty looking drink, and I knew I would be getting something better then all the other Dundee area one's I've reviewed so far - by looks alone.
Around the rim the celery salt & herb mix that can be seen throughout the drink continued, and it was topped off with 2 olives & a lime wedge. While the garnish could have been a little more hearty, I was anxious to dig in.
I'm writing this review a week later, have had four other Bloody Marys since, and this one still stands out. I'll be honest, this one has popped into my head often this week, and I've been tempted to go back multiple times already. I'm not sure what all the herbs in the drink consist of, but any bartender that takes pride in making a good Bloody Mary should go get one & steal the idea. The only thing keeping this from being a 4 star Bloody Mary is the price & garnish. Knock off a buck, and add some more garnish goodness, and this one would be near the top. That said, if your looking for a great thirst quencher in Dundee, as of right now, this is the one to get.
